NOT TO MISS (Free Books for Kids and Family Fun)! MAY 19TH. Superhero teachers from 15 Reading Rangers CCSD elementary schools will kick-off a summer reading program from 11am to 2pm at The Boulevard. Children will receive FREE BOOKS for summer reading.
The event will feature superhero teachers from 15 east valley schools
LAS VEGAS – The importance of developing reading skills is a critical component for students to increase their skills and ability to achieve. To emphasize this point, superhero teachers from 15 Reading Rangers Clark County School District (CCSD) elementary schools will kick-off a summer reading program on Saturday, May 19. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Boulevard Mall, located at 3528 S. Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas.
When students arrive at the mall, they will receive a “bingo card” that they will use to document their progress in their quest to find each of the superhero teachers, who will be at various locations throughout the mall. There will also be reading activities for students and families. Once they have filled out their card, they will be directed to an area where they will receive free books. However, children will need to be on their guard as social media reports indicate that villains like “Stinky McNoReads” and “Lazy Kid” will also be at the mall trying to distract children and keep them from reading this summer.
“This is a fun, family-oriented event that encourages students and their parents to keep them focused on learning even while they are on summer break,” said Assistant Chief Student Achievement Officer Rebecca Kaatz. “We will have teachers and administrators from 15 of our 30 Reading Rangers elementary schools, who are taking time from their summer break to participate in this event, so I would encourage parents to bring their children out to the mall to meet our superheroes and pick up some free reading materials.”
In addition to the 15 CCSD schools, this free event is being co-sponsored by The Boulevard Mall, Spread the Word Nevada, The Public Education Foundation, John’s Incredible Pizza, the Whitney Library of the Clark County Library District and the Latin Chamber of Commerce.
